Technology Users Group
Starting Fresh
Welcome to the new Technology Users Group (TUG), formerly known as Library Software Users Group (LiSUG), which was formerly known as the SUNY Aleph Users Group (SUNYAUG). As the new chair of the users group, I would like to take a new direction with TUG and take a more flexible social approach. I am hoping for a group that is more social, relying on models like “barcamp” or “meetup” type events to have a constant networking opportunity, and to share ideas in Technology and Technical services in SUNY. From these collaborations, it may lead to presentations at SUNYLA, CIT, or other appropriate conferences. I also want this group to be open about trying out new tools and technologies, and actually use this group to share our experiences with the new tools. Once TUG develops more, we may revisit having a formal annual TUG conference in the future.
To start things off I would like to start the conversation by inviting people to the SUNYLA TUG LinkedIn group (http://www.linkedin.com/groups?about=&gid=4106151). I know LinkedIn has been around for a while, and some of you may already use it, but I thought it would be a good place to get the group's feet wet to try out a common communication channel. It's also a great way to see what our collective experiences, jobs, and skills are through our LinkedIn profiles. If you are new to LinkedIn, you may want to start by creating a LinkedIn profile here (https://www.linkedin.com/reg/join?trk=hb_join).
